Originally a jazz musician, Will Menter was influenced by free jazz, exploring its realms with his soprano saxophone. "Then I began seeking other sounds and delving into diffrent worlds," he shares. This musicla journey led him to capture sounds of wind, stones, wood, and ice. His work blends seamlessly with the rhythms and melodies of nature, often blurring the line between music and the natural world. "It all depends on how you listen", he explains. For this second exhibition of La Forêt monumentale, Menter offers “One Possible Sound River,” a winding structure made from oak wood. "This instrument, reminiscent of a xylophone or African marimba, is tuned to both African and Western scales," Menter notes. "It’s a way to universalize sounds and create new harmonies." His sculpture-instrument invites us to listen to the sounds of nature, encouraging a type of contemplation that can spark dreams—while keeping our eyes wide open.
