The very first Forêt Monumentale exhibition took place from September 2019 to September 2021 in the Forêt Verte of Bois Guillaume, Mont Saint Aignan and Houppeville, near Rouen (France). In association with ONF (French national forestry commission), 13 monumental artworks were installed in the forest to create a unique art-and-nature trail of several kilometres.

This two-year art exhibition, which attracted over 400,000 visitors, was also part of a major initiative to showcase these three state-owned forests with the Forêt d’Exception® seal of approval and to highlight the region’s natural heritage, in keeping with the Rouen Agreement guidelines that resulted from the local COP21.
